I write a blog about maps called The Map Room; perhaps you've heard of it.

My current home town (Shawville, Quebec) and its surroundings need mapping, and I’ve taken it upon myself to do it. I’m doing it with a Garmin eTrex Legend H, an Oregon 450t, and muscle power.

I’m also editing the map my original home town—Winnipeg, Manitoba—by tracing satellite imagery and adding my remembered local knowledge, which in Winnipeg’s case is not necessarily as dated as you might think. Sometimes, though, it is.

I also add fixes where I can when I see them. Unfortunately, there are a lot of them in Canada.
