Question to the forum in the form of HELP PLS. : I'd like to download an OSM, write or draw a route/course on the map I'd like to ride (bicyle), and then download it to my Garmin (305 or Nuvi)... The intent obviously is to follow the route line on the GPS... (currently you have to ride the course first, and save it to see it for future rides).

Is there an app tool available that creates a route that then can be downloaded with the map...? TNX ALL!!!

Well since nobody has tried to answer you I'll give it a crack.

Basically OSM will provide your GPS with a detailed basemap. Essentially an image that your GPS can display behind the "current location" marker.

NB: I've not researched the capabilities of your GPS units, so I don't know what is possible with them, but below is a rough guideline.

If you want to route on this map you have 2 options:

1) Download a routable Garmin map based off OSM and let your GPS do the routing. There were maps available for download but the site seems to be down. Some information about this, including how to make them yourself, is here: osm.wiki/Routable_garmin_maps

2) Download a non-routable Garmin map (info in the wiki: osm.wiki/OSM_Map_On_Garmin) and do the routing yourself manually by using Garmin MapSource to plot a route then upload it to your GPS unit.
