There are various groups of volunteers working for relief efforts in Thanjavur, Pudukkottai, Nagapattinam and thiruvarur districts in Tamil Nadu. They are distributing basic things like food, water, clothes etc inside the villages.

My question is how to introduce osm to these volunteers? Any osm volunteers from Tamil Nadu or within India to brief them on how to use. Also, there were 1000’s of electric posts, transformers were fallen or damaged and no electricity for past 5 days since Friday. We may train them to point the electric related Geo positions. Just these are my thoughts.

கடந்த முறை ஊர் (அதிராம்பட்டினம்) சென்றிருந்த போது openstreetmap.org ல் நான் தொகுத்த மரங்களின் பட்டியல் (படம்). இன்று இந்த மரங்கள் பல சாய்ந்து விட்டன. நான் வைத்த ஒரு மரத்துடன் இந்த மரஙக்ளும் சாய்ந்தது வருத்தமாக இருக்கிறது. வெறும் மூன்று நாள் விடுமுறையில் சென்றிருந்தும் இவற்றை குறிக்கவேண்டும் என்பதும் எனது பயண நோக்கமாக இருந்தது.

பள்ளிக்குழந்தைகளை வைத்து கணக்கெடுப்பு பயிற்சியுடன் இவற்றை குறிக்க ஒருங்கிணைக்க வேண்டும் என்று விரும்பினேன். (அப்படி ஒரு ஒருங்கிணைப்பு அனுபவம் எல்லாம் இல்லை.)

மரங்களை கணக்கெடுத்து குறிப்பதன் அவசியம் தற்போது இன்னும் அதிகமாகியிருக்கிறது.

எங்குமே இல்லாத வகையில், நமதூரில் குப்பைத் தொட்டிகள், குப்பை சேரும் இடங்களையும் சிலவற்றையும் குறித்திருக்கிறேன். osm ல் சாக்கடை வாய்க்கால், நீர்வழி, தெருவிளக்குகள், மின்மாற்றிகள் என்று சகலத்தையும் குறிக்க முடியும்.

நேற்றைய கஜா புயலில் பிரபலான windy.com தளத்தின் base openstreetmap.org என்பது குறிப்பிடத்தக்கது.

I have created a proof-of-concept to translate tags using overpass api, wikidata query service queries. you can write your own queries and get the data from both wikidata and osm.

I am so tired of translating OSM and its tools. Need to switch between launchpad, transifex and finally for another taginfo we need to translate seperately.

Why should I translate again and again for same terms and words? How OSM architects failed to provide a common library for translation?

Can someone help to remove duplicate entries in presets. I found at least 40% of the items are HTML “1” (alt+1)

India is not Hindia. Please remove the word “Bharat” (1000km) in hindi from osm. Indians speak 100’s of languages. Hindi is not a national language.
