I think I see what's going on in fact. The cycle lane along High Road Leytonstone isn't continuous and the routing takes the user on to the pedestrian pavement, I think because it doesn't realise there's a continuous cycle way that just goes straight when it gets to intersections.

What's the proper way to deal with this? Just set the cycleway:left and cycleway:right on the whole road even if it momentarily disappears while crossing intersections?

Hi, just wanted to make sure this was looked into before I close this tab. I looked today at the routing along this route (leytonstone to stratford) again today and there still seems to be a couple of confusing "turn right turn left"s in it. One around Barklay road and another near Bow Street.

This brings up a general question i have which I couldn't see an answer to in the info pages. How do make it clear that the path continues straight but transitions to a road?

I just ran a simulation on OSANDM+ on my phone and there's a jog at Barclay Road where it jumps from a cycle path to the road, and then around Buxton Road where it does a jog on to the pavement. When I was there in real life, I feel like it did the left-right thing maybe 2 more times but I can't reproduce that in simulation mode.

Perhaps these can be eliminated by removing the spurious cycle paths and force it to use the road cycle lane?

It looks like OSANDM is using OpenCycleMap for routing.

Thanks for your help.

thank you!

So how to fix the route so it continues straight rather than trying to use what I think is probably the pavement and crossings?

Worst case, I can just remove the cycleway I added, that's about 10 min of work.

Stupid question now, how do i revert this?

The reason I tried to do this in the first place was when I rode along this route the other day, it kept telling me to "turn left turn right" when I was heading straight. I think it was trying to route me down the pavement and as I crossed roads it was trying to route me over a crossing which is nuts. As I was editing this after I saved this, I realised some of what you said, there seems to be a cycleway tag which is probably the correct thing to use. Will that work though? Does the cycle path need to then join up with the road line? I'll read those links you sent and revert this change. I didn't want to lose this comment box though before I did that. I was using OSAND+ with I think cycleOSM routing, could be using graphopper. OSAND+ is a bit difficult to tell exactly what it's using to do the routing.

I'm wondering if there's a better way to do this....
