Is it possible to view GPS traces on the map?

Vum michael_kirk matgedeelt de(n) 22. Oktober 2014 op English.

I just succesfully uploaded by first GPS trace. I can view the starting location of this trace on an OSM, but not the entire route.

Is this possible?

If not, what do people use the “GPS Traces” feature for?

It’s not a feature we offer, no. The purpose of the GPS upload is to provide source data for tracing in an editor to create the maps.

It will eventually show up in a background layer for iD. The stack button on the right bar, towards the bottom controls what is visible there.

If you want to work with it immediately, you can open it locally, using that same menu.

Just as a side note.

Don’t know if you already know this but, there’s always the “Help” link in the top bar.

If you enter, there’s a place where you can ask your questions and get valuable answers.

if you want to see a trace on a map, upload it to one of those services: osm.wiki/Track_drawing_websites I recommend gpsies (no registration needed).

“GPS traces” is for mapping support. See osm.wiki/Recording_GPS_tracks

Michael,

I had this same dout when I started mapping. Then I noticed that the JOSM editor downloads all GPS traces of the area you are editing. Including yours.

Abraços, Linhares
