Traffic Enforcement Cameras

Zapsal mkarau 2. 11. 2013 v jazyce English.

First - wow! It’s quite un-intuitive to add a traffic camera to OSM… osm.wiki/Relation:enforcement

Second - wow^2! No one seems to render the traffic enforcements. They’re not shown on the default OSM rendering, and OSMand+ for Android phones (a navigation app that should show them) also does not include them.

This site scrapes the database every couple weeks and renders the enforcements. Enjoy! http://frink.bplaced.de/blitzer/

It is forbidden in France to have a device showing them while driving. If the device should be (loosely) attached to the vehicle, you ‘d even be risking the vehicle seized.

@stephan75: I’m an avid user of Osmand, so I’m looking forward to the day it can render multi-point relation enforcements.

@feth: Very good point. The legality of in-car rendering of speed enforcements varies by jurisdiction, but it seems we’re being overcautious to not render such salient and annoying features in other contexts. It took some digging to find the blitzer map; in my opinion, these elements should be more readily available in normal OSM viewing.

Here in Brazil it is ok to map the speed cameras. So, thank you for sharing the link to the blitzer map! :-)
