osmdiff 0.3.2 | There seem to be project governance related issues with PSA. How about Requests-OAuthlib? |
osmdiff 0.3.2 | There’s OAuth 2.0 now but 1.0a is still supported, and I guess will be for a while? Is there a sample client app? I can probably help out a bit to dust it off if needed. |

osmdiff 0.3.2 | Christian - thanks for sharing links to your work as well! The OAuth module is something I may use soon in fact. For There’s also OSMNx, which is widely used in the academic community but I don’t know how useful it is as a general purpose module for OSM data processing and representation. I think it’s specifically targeted at network analysis use cases, but I haven’t used it myself. I’d love to collaborate on this. |

My State of the Map 2022 | Sorry to hear you contracted Covid, Amanda. I did as well and I know of at least one other person. Thanks for the summary, that reminds me to watch the Board AMA that I missed while I was there! |

Cache Valley Address Import | Perhaps if we do some mall mapping (see my diary post from yesterday) in Davis (Station Park, Layton Hills) or Weber county (Newmark), that may be enough of an encouragement? :) I added some comments to the import wiki. |
Specialized mappers | I love the theme park @Aury88! The indoor mapping is pretty impressive too. I never figured out how to do it. Are there tools that make it easier? |
Cache Valley Address Import | Thanks for posting this! I would be happy to help out. I don’t think there have been other imports from this particular dataset, although other UGRC sources have been used for import, mainly building footprints. If this import works well, we may use it as a template for other counties / cities. It’s probably a bit far for you if you’re in the Logan area, but we have monthly OSM meetups in SLC. I am the OSM user who had the waiver letter signed by UGRC by the way! I’m happy to connect you with folks at UGRC if any questions arise. |

Changeset age / ID Confusion | Thanks for the history lesson, both! |
Changeset age / ID Confusion | @SimonPoole What were “uploads” called before they were called changesets? I don’t remember. |

Happy ODbL Planet Anniversary! | @Zverik this is now on the Hacker News front page, you may see some heavy load on your 2012 tile server… |
Happy ODbL Planet Anniversary! | @GinaroZ there may just not be any map data to look at yet in 2008! If you look at areas where mapping activity was already underway in 2008, you will see a more interesting map, like here. |
DYI Vintage Tile Server | Learning something new again, I didn’t know the Overpass API could output images! You don’t have to download an entire full history planet to make this work, any region from Geofabrik will work just fine. You can have it up and running in less than 10 minutes. |

When the stars align: My SoTM2022 and FOSS4G2022 story | Thanks for sharing your personal observations and highlights Feye! Great to meet you in person (although it was very short) Glad you enjoyed the MapRoulette talk :) |

Searching Diaries | @Msiipola OSM wiki is a good place to document this lacking UX. I took the existing User Diaries page (which was a redirect) and wrote some content there about diaries in general, and how to search for them using DDG. Please help improve! |
Happy ODbL Planet Anniversary! | I chose 2008-01-01 initially because for the USA, we were in the middle of the TIGER import. You see a lot of stuff like this. By 2009 most of this had been cleaned up, although a lot of garbage remained. Which is the case even today… Plug: if you want to help clean up, search MapRoulette for ‘TIGER’ :) |
Happy ODbL Planet Anniversary! | That is awesome. Thanks for making this available! |
Searching Diaries | I understand and respect that principle. However, DuckDuckGo is a very well established service, and aligns with our user privacy principles. And even if DDG were to go away, a search box would not be a deep integration, and this would be pretty easy thing to revert. |
How to use Every Door | Those are great suggestions!! |
Searching Diaries | The search engine option is interesting! I am guessing not many people know about this. Perhaps there is a way to create a search box that parses whatever the user enters and redirects (new tab) to search engine results. So a user would enter, for example As an added bonus, it would expose more users to a privacy-centered search engine. Would something like that potentially be merged, TomH? |
How to use Every Door | Yea I wonder about that. I am sure there are people who would rather sit at their computer and add info to OSM based on a picture someone else took than go out and survey. To each their own :) My thinking about this goes in the direction of creating connections. Linking the mapper who took the picture with the mapper who added the data to OSM using the picture. Even if it’s just clicking a button that says ‘give thanks’ (like you can do on the OSM wiki for example. Then, a relationship is created that makes both contributors feel good, and encourages them (hopefully) to keep doing what they are doing. MapRoulette in its current form may not be the best ‘platform’ for this, but I am thinking about the next major version of MapRoulette, and I am open to it looking quite different from what it is today. |
