Starting north on the Beeline Hwy. I Began just south of Loop 202 where the divided highway starts.
Skipped ahead to 89. I didn't accomplish much except tag some (but not all) of the bridges.
Small problem between I-40 and this spot. The way and the Yahoo image match but my trace is off. It's possible that this is a section of divided highway that doesn't show in the image. Since I only travelled south along this section of US 93 and didn't take notes to show which parts are divided, I'll just skip ahead.
Completed the section of US 93 that shares an alignment with I-40. Changed ref tags and marked a couple of bridges.
US 93 shares an alignment with I-40 so I...
split W Beale St (in Kingman, Arizona) and removed tags referencing US 93 from the way east of I-40,
split I-40 at the bridges and added/modified bridge, layer, and ref tags, at W Beale St, Longview Ave, and White Cliffs Rd.
Mostly done.
I didn't know where in Kingman to place the end of the divided way so I guessed.
Skipped the Dam parking.
The junction between Kingman and Golden Valley needs work.
I'm also wondering if I should have deleted nodes from the TIGER data. We have some very straight ways in the desert south west US.
Add southbound way past Mineral Park Rd.
Stopped working south. It's time to add the southbound way.
Continued south to State Route 68. The TIGER data and Yahoo images are older than the interchange. I'll have to do this from memory. We'll give this one a low QA value.
South to Santa Claus
Almost to Cerbat Rd
Almost as far south as Mineral Rd. I'm taking the single way and moving it to the north bound lanes. After I reach Kingman, I'll create the southbound way.
Comparing US 93 to track logs and Yahoo images. Started at the Dam and working south.
Looked at the primary road between these two towns. I'm not sure I added much vallue on this one.
Made it to Camp Verde.
I'm tracing I-17 starting in Flagstaff and heading south. In this context, tracing is:
1) adjusting the OSM motorway (mostly TIGER) to match Yahoo image,
2) adding a north (or south) bound motorway were OSM has only one way for this divided freeway,
3) adjusting motorway_links to match Yahoo image,
4) adjusting ways that connect to motorway_links to give a smooth transition to the existing ways, and
5) adding bridge and layer tags where needed.
Antigua Guatemala
Question: What to do with waypoints and notes from a couple of trips to Guatemala?
Answer: Add information to OSM!
OSM already had a few ways. I added some more by tracing Yahoo arial photos. Most of my efforts were around Panajachel, Antigua Guatemala, and La Ciudad de Guatemala.
The street center line data maintained by Clark County GIS is public. Clark County is now a data conversion project.
