Assalamu Aleikum, there are two spoken languages in Saudi Arabia, Arabic and English. Makkah and Medina are the two holy cities where are each year millions of people from all countries of the world travel to it, to make Hadj and Omra. There are a lot of people who don’t speak the arabic language.

The practical problem for openstreetmap.org and osmand in the two international cities Makkah and Medina is:

if there is written the field “name” in “arabic” and the field “name:en” in english and other multilanguages are not exists, people with arabic language can see the arabic name, people with english language see the english name, but people with other languages can only see the arabic name and they cannot understand what is written.

if there is written the field “name” in “english” and the field “name:ar” in arabic and other multilanguages are not exists: People with arabic language can see the arabic name, people with english language can see the english name and also all people with other languages can see the english name. So the people can unterstand what is written.

I prefer that the field “name” is written in english and arabic, so all muslims of the world can read it. For example in Morocco is mostly used the field “name” in french and arabic language.

You can test this for example with the osmand app. Change the language of the osmand app and you can see this.

this is not an government office POI, please change it to adress and in settings "name" to addr:housenumber. Please change all your pois, your poi type is wrong!

Hello, yesterday i have deleted the old poi (created with amenity editor). And created a new poi with normal editor.
In future i use not the amenity editor, until the problem is resolved!
Today the openstreetmap looks good! :-)
