Before just deleting stuff, I think you’d need to investigate what was going on. Here’s a query that shows some. In the case of this one you’d need to find a local to see if the tagging was accurate. This one was tagged by a local and I’m sure is just fine as it is. This one had the name added from OS OpenData, where many of the names are obsolete or just wrong, and then deleted by someone else - I’d guess that we can give the deleter the benefit of the doubt.

So no, while it doesn’t make sense to “delete all place=localities without a name” it would make sense to look in more detail at them, and after checking I’m sure that some of them probably could be deleted.

Looking at local examples, there are some disused:names for places that no longer exist, but which have left traces in things like business names. There are also some name:lang localities for places that aren’t significant (and don’t have a name) for the majority culture, but are important to a minority.

Blanket deletion is not a good idea.

Oh, sorry I did not look closer at the data before proposing this. What I mean was that those with no names or name like properties should be deleted, like those in this improved query. https://overpass-turbo.eu/s/PKW

I am going to check our Swedish maps at these nodes and if nothing name like appears I’m going to ask the author to clarify what it is.

Sorry for the noise.
