Low Battery

The weather forecast was for rain but surprise, surprise: sunshine. So I went off to another sweep of Lugano. I would have mapped Parco Ciani as well, but the N800 announced "low battery" just as I was about to enter the park. Note to self: charge equipment before mapping.

Rechargeable batteries do not like the cold. If they are cold, they will run down VERY quickly.

Lithium batteries are the best in the cold. Unlike you'll be able to find any for the N800. :(

It's not really cold around here yet. I am quite okay with the lifetime of the N800's battery -- around three to four hours mapping. You just need to remember to charge it before heading out. The annoying thing is that with the OS2008, the battery indicator remains at full and the plummets to almost empty within the blink of an eye.
