Mapping the places lost thanks to ODBL

Publicadu dae pavithrans su 19 austu 2012 in English.

Well some places the road segment simply vanishes ! Mapping them is definitely a though task .

But one big advantage is it brings focus of the current mapper to that region which means with new imager he could do much better than the old mapper . we are planning a mapping party this weekend .

Tip to find out lost areas : Use http://tools.geofabrik.de/osmi/ with view redction bot enabled. It shows all deletions thanks to people who didnt accept ODBL .

Small question : Would a mapper who hasn’t accepted the license , if he accepts now will it bring back his changes ?

Would a mapper who hasn’t accepted the license , if he accepts now will it bring back his changes ? I do not think so. However, maybe it is possible that an admin (bot) undos the redaction changes for this user. …just guessing…

Does somebody know if we have a “that was checked/done” board/map somewhere? Something like mark redacted ways/nodes in osmi’s redaction view as “taken care of” (remapped or still usable)? Otherwise redcted areas probably get checked more times than necessary by several users.

@pavithrans: Even if a mapper accepts now, his changes will not automatically come back. This would cause too much problems if parts of the area have been remapped or otherwise modified since the deletions.

@aseerel4c26: You can flag redaction markers in OSMI as “taken care of” by clicking on them, then clicking the small “trash can” icon in the details for the selected entry on the right. (Only works for deleted, rather than modified, elements.)

@Tordanik: Thanks, I saw that before - but that does not help for the modified elements.

The modified elements will become “superseded” the next time they are modified by a human mapper. Until then, it is assumed that they are incomplete (because of the information lost from e.g. deleting tags or removing some of a node’s ways).
