getting dirty with mumbai | Thanks a lot for getting the AND data on railway lines . It makes my map nice :) |

Zoom levels | @Gnonthgol I now understand why osmarender shows up more cluttered when there are more details . Is Kosmos the only alternative for deploying small set of tiles ? Added to the windows tag Kosmos generated tiles will only work on IIS :( ( that makes it more untouchable :X ) |

Zoom levels | @amm and Johnsmith: Google rendering is bad accepted OSM could do it better but my point is that Zoomlevel . The maximum zoom level google gives covers small area while mapnik covers more area. When we see small area vs large area on same screen size we could more clearly observe small area fit into large screen Hence more details . geofabrick link didnt work for me . I am showing a google map vs OSM for this place in my town . Google http://bit.ly/cXpgEJ
Start from left corner a bank called SBI or state bank of India to right corner . OSM shows area till the primary road junction while google shows very less |

Comparison to Google Maps | Yahoo imagery is of no use for me as for the given zoomlevel I cant even identify my small town in India . Google was the same 3 years back but 1 year back a satellite has visited and gave great imagery which lead to huge contributions to g maps . I am trying to get most of the data via GPS . |

Spam in the Diary | *No data upload, no blog* LOL good one :) What about someone who after a long time thinks to do some mapping today writes his plan ? |
Debian java bug... | The problem has been there for long time in debian/ubuntu . I was suggested to use http://josm.openstreetmap.de/josm-tested.jar and run it with java . I never had problems this way . Looks like debian/ubuntu package maintainers are not that active . |
where do additional tags end up ? | I mean something more than what mapnik could render |
There's too much spam in the OSM Diaries | yes there should be a report button . |
Bus and rail platforms | The platforms are showing up in Osmarender but not in mapnik |
shop to buy/repair watches | @daveemtb why not call it watch shop ? Because primarily there are more number of watches sold than clocks . |
missing shop tags | @daveemtb Thank you . There are shops for phone company where customers come for complaining and also for knowing new features which the phone company provides. |
missing shop tags | oops I found that the car and bicycle shops are represented in JOSM in Transport section . I was looking at shops. There are many bike showrooms in india . Maybe a new tag . |
Mapping roads ? | @davespod Yes the roads must join for navigation . I think making it 2 roads in 2 directions would solve my problem. |
Mapping roads ? | @ Zartbitter: Thank you that was helpful . |
Mapping roads ? | @wieland: There are 3 places where U turn is possible. I think its better to mark them . |
identifying 'time' from gpx trail | @drlizau: Thank you will try it out :) |
identifying 'time' from gpx trail | @JohnSmith: No problem .. am using JOSM jar file from the website . |
Khammam town | @johnsmith: Thank you . I am thinking of using whereami after I start marking places. It will help identify the missing places. One thing stopping me use whereami is the network bandwith costs associated with GPRS for fetching maps . |
