37655014 | 約9年前 | "please lobby to have the default OSM renderer display the town way the same as it currently displays town nodes." Is not an issue for me ! Settlement tags are not hard to find - no harder than the residential area tags. Searching OSM will find them very easily too. Again this issue is no different for the many larger area objects such as lakes. |
37655014 | 約9年前 | It's not a case of mapping what people think or want but mapping what's there. A place is an area, not a node. If the name appears in the sea for a coastal location, that's fine. I find village names placed in nearby fields rather than in the village or hamlet - to stop the name cluttering the map. This kind of positioning is perfectly acceptable - since OS has done it for years; amongst other reasons. I agree there's often a hub to a place such as a market square - although for drivers, a central car park would be a good point. Some places are so big, the 'town centre' covers a large area and a node would be pretty arbitrary within that area. It's like trying to decide where people want to be without knowing where there destination actually is. I suspect if you can come up with what you consider to be a valid reason to mark a 'centre point', won't in fact be valid. |
37655014 | 約9年前 | I don't agree with place nodes. The 'centre' of a place has no real significance. The placing of place nodes tend to be rather arbitrary too. In this case, there appears to be a few villages grouped together erroneously - and would be best for someone local to correct.

It's not my fault. PLease don't blame me for failins within OSM. |
It seems you've failed to include any proof of what you claim whereas what is there now is quite logical. |
Thanks for the pointers. |
If you look to the NW you'll see the 'General' Hospital (now Children's hospital) it's the helipad for that. |
I thought it was 200% obvious ! |
The only hostility is coming from you and I haven't a clue why ????? |
32353416 | 9年以上前 | No - because you'd have had no feedback to learn from ! Also, we have to accept it is possible for crazy things to happen - and there might have been a reason for it however unlikely.
|
How come we have a road name here containing a telephone number ? |
36168797 | 9年以上前 | Unfortunately there's 1 crossing crossing 2 segregated lanes - so I'd put the crossing in as a 'linear node'. Normally where there are two roads, there are two crossings with a pedestrian refuge in the middle - but there's no such refuge here - which would have had ped-operated buttons. In fact the whole junction is full of oddities. |
Well, since you've complained, I've corrected it.

Feel free to alter the shopping centre boundary if you feel it's incorrect. I've not altered the boundary. |
Unfortunately, 'aisle' is the correct spelling - but you've actually mapped shelving. The aisles I guess would be mapped as footpaths. |
35015175 | 9年以上前 | The path used to continue over UG road and past the station, over Richmond Rd and all the way to Lincoln Rd. The bit parallel to Stn drive was obviously not needed (but still had a no cycling sign!) and the continuation north of Richmond road still has a short section in use (past the end of 109) and diverts onto Masons way. I'm not sure if the old route is still accessible to access the back of the houses on Masons Way - in an unofficial capacity. |
Thanks for the update. I've reported the issue to the council (again!) - only this time with the blockages. |
I know there is as I've walked along it ! |
35015175 | 9年以上前 | Just like you don't - you reverted it without waiting for a reply from me. If you're going to be obnoxious about it, it's not my fault you're too blind to see the path. I've put it back in because it is there. I'll now give you directions:
