I participated this conference as a volunteer.A number of abroad participants came and as i was a volunteer i got scope to talk with them.
A lot of sessions were arranged at different pavilions,i also attended some sessions.Every session contained constructive views.
As many international organisations, communities and humanitarian activists were present there and share their experiences and views about OpenStreetMap,Open Source technology,ICT based Open Data Platform and Open Data ecosystem,i gathered knowledge about different IT based purposes.
There were lightning talk session only for five minutes where every speaker talked about such a perspective that can inspire or motivate you.
As SotMA is the biggest conference for the mappers and mapping enthusiastic people,it helps to build up relation among Mappers, GIS experts,Researchers and academical institutions. I am also a mapper, so i wanted to introduce some mappers of other region and talked with them about their ideas and views about OSM, this could possible participating SotMA 2019.
My First Experience at SotMA 2019 really mind-blowing.I introduced with some new faces and shared thoughts and ideas about different issues. I also told them about our nation, our culture, customs, tradition, our historical places and events. They felt happy hearing me about my country and they also shared with me about their nation, culture, tradition and so on.Actually this annual gathering Of SotMA,is the way of build up International Brotherhood. I really feel proud to be a participant of this International Conference SotMA 2019.
Map Swipe is a mobile app that helps you contribute on MissingMaps. When I found out that we could map various parts of the world through mobile phone using satellite imagery, I install the app on my mobile phone. Then follow the rest of the instructions. After knowing how to use it, i start working. When I map it out, I feel as if I’m playing a game.Every swipe indicate specific things on that region. Some projects can tell you to indentify only building, but other projects can tell you to indentify building, highway, waterway where you find. Like game it has also level.Initial levels can pass quickly but after that to pass a level i need a lots of swipes.Using this app first time i contribute on MissingMaps and now i am on level 17.It’s an amazing app for humanitarian works. Those who like playing games, they can use this app and participate in humanitarian activities.
MAP FOR HUMANITY ,( Dhaka College Youth Mappers Chapter) .
Posted by rakibdc on 27 November 2019 in English. To celebrate Osmgeoweek2019 and Birthday of Dhaka College #DC179, we(Youth Mappers Dhaka College) organize a mapathon “Map for Humanity “ on 22 November 2019. We along with new members work on an vulnerable area where we try to give support of that region and different NGO’s so that they can take steps on that vulnerable area.In and around Bossangoa in the Central African Republic, MSF teams provide consultations in hospitals and health centres, and support a network of community health workers. A better map of the region will help the teams to understand the exact situation in the area and will allow them to make rough population estimations. So,we updated the maps to help them with drawing building, highways, waterways and so on. Some new students sign registration and participate in this mapathon. First we arrange a training session where we discuss about OSM,Youth Mappers, and Map related other questions. Then we gave them handson training, how can we make map, how can we contribute on OSM, how can we draw a building with proper shape? How can we draw a highway or a waterway or a waterbodies? After discussion and answering remote draw related questions, we along with our new members contribute on Hotosm Tasking Manager -Task No.#7033 - Missing Maps: Mapping buildings in Bossangoa (city) - Ouham , Central African Republic At last session we discuss how can we progress and what may be our future plans. We also make plan organizing another mapathon for celebrating our Victory Day 16th December. In the end,we all take part in tea party.

Mapping For Health Service Facilities
Posted by rakibdc on 23 November 2019 in English. Last updated on 5 January 2020.Bangladesh Humanitarian OpenStreet Operation Team (BHOOT) mainly conducts various humanitarian activities. As usual BHOOT Team has adopted a project for increasing public health service facilities. The aim of this project is to ensure public health through providing GPS location with full address of every individual health service centre of some congested area of Dhaka City. A number of volunteers were engaged in this project for collecting field data. The volunteers collected data through mobile devices using ODK and OsmAnd. They collected data with exact GPS location, capture image and full address of different health service centres such as Medical hospital, Diagnostic centre,Homeo Centre, Therapy centre, dental care,Eye care pharmacy and so on. When these data used on map and publicly opened, people can easily find different health service centre around them. Using this data we can find out whether these health service centres are sufficient for the residence of the area or not and we can also predict the conditions of the health facilities of the entire Dhaka city. The Health Ministry and various NGO’s can go ahead getting the ideas from this project to ensure public health service facilities for the congested city dwellers.
