Hi Amit,

You seemed to have correctly added Fire Hydrants earlier: osm.org/changeset/51658688
Could you explain what this changeset is for? Don’t think this should be on OSM — you can’t add details with color names to make them show up that way on OSM.

Could you remove this, and instead use a tool like http://geojson.io/ to create custom data and then add it on a custom map?

Thanks!

Hey Ankit,

Thanks for contributing to OSM! OSM follows the principle of one feature, one element — so you should tag either an area or a central node as parking, but not both. Best would be to remove the nodes here, and add the tags to the area itself.
More details here: osm.wiki/One_feature,_one_OSM_element
osm.wiki/Tag:amenity%3Dparking
Thanks!

Hey Udayan,

What were you trying to add here? Not sure this is the correct way to add security guards.

Also, it seems you’re using using the incorrect order of long, lat values to add these details (hence they aren’t showing up near the IIT Mumbai campus as intended, but instead in the Arctic Sea). OSM doesn’t encourage automated imports of data — could you remove these changesets and add the data with correct coordinates as a new changeset?

Hi Pallavi,

Thanks for adding these shops to OSM. It seems that you added the same set of shops thrice — once with amenity=tea and then twice as shop=tea. Could you open the old changesets in JOSM and remove the incorrectly tagged/duplicate data?

Thanks!

Hey Raagul,

Thanks for adding these data points to the map. Could you add the relevant tags for the auto stands (amenity=taxi) like you’ve added in the recent changeset, and for the road behind the gymkhana (as footway or path)
osm.wiki/Tag:highway%3Dfootway
osm.wiki/Tag:highway%3Dpath

Thanks!

Are these guards at an entrance (better to use barrier=entrance) or at a gate (better to use one of the gates in barrier tag (osm.wiki/Key:barrier). Along with that, you can use barrier:personnel=yes (osm.wiki/Key:barrier:personnel)

Also, not all data needs to show up on the default map — you shouldn’t tag so that it does. This is called tagging for the renderer and is actively discouraged. Instead, tag using the correct tag and change the icons etc. based on how you show the map (using a custom map style or using Overpass to extract the data).

Hey Vineet,

Want to add on to Jan’s comment: Details about the print shops need to be added using relevant service tags for shop=copyshop, such as service:copy=yes (for photocopy service), service:print=yes (small set of prints) etc.
Details: osm.wiki/Tag:shop%3Dcopyshop

For name of the company running the store (like Technosky Ent.), it’s better to use the operator tag instead of adding it in the name.
Details here: osm.wiki/Key:operator

Could you also update other changesets with the same tags?

Hey ThePenSil, welcome to OSM! Thanks for adding this data on OSM. Had a small question about the access tag you used: access=customers is used when you require a purchase/key/code to use the toilets. Do all these toilets fit this criteria? You can read more about the different access values here: osm.wiki/Tag:amenity%3Dtoilets#How_to_tag

What is this area for? And isn’t that the wrong location of Misra Yantra?

Hey!

Removed this shape incorrectly mapped as a park: osm.org/changeset/42335868

In case you’re trying to just explore OSM and the iD tool, make sure you don’t save your changes unless they’re actual changes you want on the map. Thanks!
