Someone suggested I ask this question here too.
On the OSM wiki, there's quite a few iOS Apps listed, but a lot of them don't focus on contributing to OSM and many of them do not seem to be in active development. Thus my question: what's the best iOS App for contributing to OSM according to you? It's for an iPad 2 with GPS. Thanks!

Apple ≠ Open Data

@b166er: maybe, but Apple hardware and software *can* be used to contribute to open data :-) There's even several open source software ported to iOS, I use a few of them myself :-)
That said, commercial or open source, with 200 millions iOS users in the wild, I still believe there should be a good app to contribute to OpenStreetMap. I just haven't found it... any clues?

I've not found one either. The world is crying out for a native iOS editor...

@Richard: What about touch support for Potlatch2?
Oh, wait... ;-)

Seems, it will appear soon: $5.99 for the app and $0.09 for each commit :)

@bastik: heh, precisely... if it were trivial to program iOS in AS3 I'd be right at it. Apple don't really like that idea though ;)

Happily things have moved on a bit since a couple of years ago when you were asking this. There’s now ‘Go Map!!’ and ‘Pushpin OSM’ apps which are pretty good mobile editors for iOS.
I’ve just been updating this question: How can I edit OSM with my iPhone?.
I thought I might be able to edit or update or comment upon that old slashgeo page, but I don’t seem to be able to.

Hi Harry!
First - thanks a lot for the reply :-) Second, please allow its delay, I was on extended holiday without access to computers. Now I’m back and made plenty of additions to OSM to reflect my holiday whereabouts.

I already use Go Map! and Pushpin OSM. Both have limitations, but it’s still an improvement!
