I’ve been involved in the OSM community almost since the beginning, and went to State of the Map in Limerick 2008, Amsterdam 2009, Girona 2010, Tokyo 2012, NYC United Nations in 2015, and Aizu 2017; also SotM-US in SF 2013. I was one of the organising team for SotM 2013 in Birmingham. I briefly chaired the OSMF’s membership working group, and for several years was a director of OpenStreetMap UK CIC, the UK local chapter of OSM, stepping down in 2024.

I’m also a member of the British Cartographic Society.

In the early days of OSM I was the first to map several towns, around Europe, filling in roads in the vast blank spaces. Nowadays I’m mostly filling in tiny, overlooked named alleyways in central Newcastle and helping keep the map up to date.
