... was the comment my daughter made after spending a couple of afternoons tracing over aerial imagery in support of her geography coursework. The group had sampled ground cover (grass/heath/wood etc) with GPS locations on a university field trip and were creating KML polygons of land use as a map overlay.
A quick check of the area in OSM showed complete land use coverage for the area - probably added by previous students with OSM knowledge.

I have been updating the WikiProject United Kingdom Long Distance Paths osm.wiki/WikiProject_United_Kingdom_Long_Distance_Paths/ page. I have split the huge table of English paths into sections for each letter of the alphabet, (except for U, X, Y, Z for which we still need to create walks).

I have also taken the opportunity to check all the relation links are still valid, add links to web sites providing more information about the walk where it was missing and to update the % complete columns. I used the http://hiking.lonvia.de/ hiking map site to help with the calculations and to find missing relations.

Does anyone else think that the Tracks, Mapped and Labelled columns in the table for England and Wales should be merged into a single % Complete column as is done for Scotland and the National Trails?

A couple of weeks ago I was walking in Worcestershire and discovered waymarked posts for the Millennium Way. I noted the website http://www.walking.41club.org and discovered the path was part of a 100 mile walk from Pershore to Middleton Cheney via Meriden and passing through Worcestershire, Warwickshire and Northamptonshire which was completely missing from OSM.

Since then I have walked the western end of the route from Pershore to Stoulton and Broughton Hackett. In the next month or so I intend to continue as far as Inkberrow or Coughton. The route continues through Henley in Arden, HockleyHeath, Meriden, Kenilworth, Leamington Spa, Cubbington, Long Itchington, Priors Marston, Chipping Warden to Middleton Cheney so if it runs near where you are working please look out for it and map it.

The route was completely new to OSM so I created a relation for the way osm.org/?relation=1518176 and have added its details to the WikiProject United Kingdom Long Distance Paths osm.wiki/WikiProject_United_Kingdom_Long_Distance_Paths

The official walk website has full descriptions and sketch maps from west to east and east to west so you don't need to buy a book to walk just small sections. The site also includes short walks that cover most of the route and return by a other paths.

I have now finished riding and mapping the five leisure cycle routes listed on the county council web site.
