Odd changeset

Postit bi stark on 27 May 2009 in English

Can anyone explain what changeset 1314298 is all about? I do not recall ever editing this road, I've never even been there. Nothing seems out of place about it now but I can't figure out how to view the before and after to see what the changeset actually changed.

You appear to have managed to create a duplicate of Sheffield Street somehow. I've removed the extra one now.

How odd. I don't even know how I would create a duplicate if I wanted to.

Thanks for fixing it.

I've seen a few places where duplicate roads have appeared but didn't think anything of it at the time. Perhaps one of the editors has a rare bug which creates duplicate ways.

I've had that happen occasionally in Potlatch if my connectivity has problems.

yeah see it in potlatch too , but I am sure I found them before too long.

I think I may have done it elsewhere as well. I know a few times I've noticed deleting points and finding identical ways underneath. How do you find them except by accident? How would you know whether you caught them all?

JOSM's validator plugin can spot duplicate nodes. I discovered a whole bunch of roads on top of each other around Didcot when I tried it a few months back.
