I'm not sure how that happens, but I've requested tiles around the coastline that are clearly wrong to be re-rendered, it should look all nice again in an hour or two from now.
You can request tiles to be re-rendered using http://informationfreeway.org/
zoom to level 12, then press "r" to request a re-render of the tiles you wish.

thank you! that's done the trick - i've done a render request (hopefully) on one remaining tile.
