Hi friends in London!
This street does not exist! I know, that you got your data from a company or so, but I am afraid, here are your data wrong! The street runs directly through the University Womens Club, where I stay sometimes. I do therefore know this region of London very well and I can tell you, the map is wrong there! I tried several times to correct it, but my knowledge of editing seems not to be sufficient enough to manage this task. So, would someone perhaps drive to this location, have a look for himself/herself and make the necessary correction? It is on South Audley Square.

I think surgeon may have been referring to osm.org/browse/way/24866162 which is under the way specified. Presumably in attempting to remove it the other way was accidentally added.

...except that surgeon also appears to be the only editor of that way as well!

Do we have any history earlier than Jun 14. According to surgeon's diary, on Jun 14 he noticed this wrong road and tried to fix it. At the same time he tried to add in "Red Lion Yard" which probably accounts for the small kink in the road. His attempt was not successful and over the days further attemts only suceeded in adding in another similar copy.

Also there are no public gps tracks for this area therefore it is possible that this area was traced rather than surveyed.
Looking at the Yahoo imagery it is easy to see how the original tracer may have been fooled by the shadows in thinking that there was a road here.

I removed all three ways.
surgeon: Do you have problems using potlatch?
Did't you know how to delete a way? Look at osm.wiki/index.php/Potlatch/Keyboard_shortcuts
Do you know, that changes don't appear on the map immediately? Normally it takes till next wednesday.

Thanks, for all the comments! I did not draw the road! I only noticed the mistake. I tried unsuccesfully to correct it, and then tried to allert someone with better knowledge of editing to correct the mistake. But that was not done during the last months, so I wrote a new comment. I am afraid, I do not have the time to read the diary on a daily basis, so there may be some time until I can react.

So maybe it looked like you draw it, because you edited it.
To delete ways in Potlatch you have to press Shift-Delete.
I have to lookup the keys too. :-)
