Arlington, Virginia identification

techlady님이 English로 2009년 3월 9일에 게시함.

I notice that Arlington, Virginia, is not identified on the map, despite being one of the most important entities in the Washington, D.C. area.
Adjacent communities, such as Falls Church, Alexandria and Vienna are called out, but Arlington, the community directly across the Potomac from Washington, is not.
The problem is, I'm new, and I don't know yet how to add a label for Arlington. Can someone help?
Many thanks.

You should use a place and a name tag both in the same node (located in the middle of the place). I am not sure if Arlington is a city or a town, but the wiki will give you an idea of how to use the tags.

osm.wiki/Map_Features#Places

If you want to use the Potlacht online editor (in the Edit tab over the map). Once you are in the editor, you just have to make a double click in the place to create the node, and after that you press the plus key so a new tag is created, write place as the key and town or city as the variable. Another press in the plus key to create the name tag, write name as the key and Arlington as the variable. That's it.

I hope this helps you.

Cheers,

I was checking your area and found the Arlington tag.

It is classified as a Hamlet and that is probably the reason why you did not see it before. Just change the place tag of that node to the variable that you want (city or town).
