167244974 | 2 months ago | Hi @MilkTeaaa, thanks for your improvements in this changeset. Unfortunately, the imagery you used is partially outdated (no updated imagery is available at the moment). I surveyed this area before your changes. So I reverted some edits you made at the bus interchange and tried to restore ways and nodes as they were before. Also when moving ways near bus stops, please check that they still align with the bus stops. Some bus routes start or end here, and the edit left some way members ending nowhere near the bus stops. If you have any questions please let me know. Travaudat |
152781760 | about 1 year ago | Hi @griffonboi, thanks for your contributions. I saw you added "ref" to some bus stops, using the numeric identifier of the PTV website link. This is not a unique reference. The unique stop ID (that starts with "ID." at bus stop signs) is a better value for "ref". May I suggest to have a look at osm.wiki/Australian_Tagging_Guidelines/Transportation#Stop_numbering (for VIC). I changed "ref" to the unique stop ID where possible and removed it otherwise. The numeric identifier you added is preserved in "website". I also removed "operator=Public Transport Victoria", since PTV is already tagged as "network". The "operator" is for example "Dysons" (osm.wiki/Australian_Tagging_Guidelines/Transportation#Buses_and_coaches). Kind regards, travaudat |

144192329 | almost 2 years ago | @kimo Thanks for adding this roundabout. Do you know which junction tag is the correct one to add? (osm.wiki/Tag:junction%3Droundabout) |
134334973 | over 2 years ago | Hi @TheSwavu, Thanks for your update in this area. I undeleted this node and updated the details. It's now a pastry shop. Instead of deleting a node for a closed venue, I usually add "disused:" to relevant tags (osm.wiki/Key:disused:*). This preserves the address of the node, the history and makes it easier for others to update. Thanks, travaudat |

111132427 | almost 4 years ago | Hi @ChonkerStonker, I saw you changed operator tag from "Yarra Trams" to "Keolis Downer" on tram routes. In my opinion the name "Yarra Trams" should not be removed, since this is the common name of the PTV tram service (used on PTV website, on https://yarratrams.com.au/, on the trams as logo, ...). From what I can see, the value change was not done on nodes or ways, so tagging is now inconsistent. I started a guide for public transport in Victoria. Maybe we can move the discussion there, and can update the guide with the solution to the correct tagging. Thanks for your contributions. |
110838403 | almost 4 years ago | Hi MapAbility, what was your reason for changing the bus route names? For now, I reverted them to the version before yours. That followed guidelines from osm.wiki/Buses ("The 'name' of a bus route should follow a specific format and is not the official name of the bus route. [...]"). Thanks, travaudat |
104864868 | about 4 years ago | @TheSwavu: Thanks for the clarification! I added this to the guide. @Pizza1016: No problem, and thanks for any contributions whenever you have time! For reference, I added some reasons for using full names for stops: osm.wiki/User_talk:Travaudat/Public_transport_in_Victoria_(Australia) |

104864868 | about 4 years ago | Hi @Pizza1016, I started a public transport guide for Victoria: osm.wiki/User:Travaudat/Public_transport_in_Victoria_(Australia). It's not yet complete or fully consistent, so any contributions are welcome. May I suggest to move the discussion there? |
104864868 | over 4 years ago | Hi @Pizza1016, thanks for taking the time to reply. Your explanations and resources are very helpful. They also show that a guide for public transport conventions in Melbourne/Victoria would be very useful. This might even attract more people, because it would clarify what needs to be done. I am interested in getting this started. This would also be a better place to discuss and agree on conventions. And to reply to your comments in more detail (which I will do as soon as I have time again). |
104864868 | over 4 years ago | Thanks for your additions. Could you please elaborate why you removed part of the bus stop name from osm.org/node/8420516972 and osm.org/node/4186008525? "/Collins Street" is part of the official name on the PTV website, and helps to identify where the bus stop is located. Also, you moved "ref" to "ref:ptv". Could you please explain why you made this change? You also removed the "ID." part. That is the ID format as shown on the sign at the bus stops. I'm just trying to understand your changes. I spent quite some time adding these details and made sure they are consistent. Do you follow a specific guide for bus stops in Melbourne? I noticed you made similar changes in other Melbourne locations. Another comment on the bus stops in the Coach Terminal. You added the same ID and route_ref to all "Southern Cross Coach Terminal (Bay ...)" - for example: osm.org/node/7244246423 but this looks like a copy-paste error. |
