I began obsessing over Ordnance Survey Maps and drawing my own Tolkien influenced maps 40 odd years ago. I went on to develop my mapping skills in conjunction with some deep traveling which is a whole other story.

In more recent times in 2005/6 I built a map using an alpha version of the QGIS server with my own PHP code for The Bundjalung Mapping Project .

Since then I have intermittently played around with leaflet and other solutions to embed maps for clients and personal tinkering. My life took a different path and my energies have been spent on my beloved family and my career as an Oncology Specialist Nurse.

Mapping however is always there in the background isn’t it? In 2024 I chartered a yacht in the Ionian and completed my Coastal Skipper RYA course. Navigating with those maritime charts bought it all back again.

What next for the journey?
There is no map for that.
