Changeset When Comment

I have reverted the series of changes and the National Park boundary relation appears to be complete.
osm.org/relation/86909

The changes were made in osm.org/changeset/33419712

It is possible , I will put it back at lunchtime and then we can see what the original problem was.

National Parks are larger than woods, they share boundaries with other objects.
Boundaries are mapped relations as this makes them easier to handle, can you imagine the problem if England was mapped as a.single.way?

33244185 almost 10 years ago

It is not usual to create a single way for a large boundary such as Exmoor National Park, but rather to create a relation that combines ways that form the boundary such as roads, streams and the coast.
The crossed out items are things that were deleted by the changeset.
A section of the B3188 is missing where it formed part of the boundary.
I think it would be best if these changes are reverted as they are otherwise difficult to fix.
Is there any particular reason you needed a single boundary, that the relation did not do?

Hi Darren
Thanks for the edit, seem to remember there were 2 pubs in Nailstone. Please can you confirm they are still there and add them. Also the church is missing.
Thanks Phil

Has Pont Briwet really become primary with the toll removed?

33244185 almost 10 years ago

Hi
Something appears to have gone wrong with this series of changes.
The national park relation is broken and some of the B3188 (North of Monksliver) is now missing.
What were you trying to achieve? Maybe we can help you.

Cheers
Phil

Should path www.openstreetmap.org/way/365292981 join Beggars Lane?

Is this summit significant? It is in a ploughed field so doesn't look like it is something we need to map. Have you actually been there?
Are all your local shops in osm? postboxes? Rather than copy from other maps, go out and survey something.

Hi
You seem to have joined Great Western Street to Garston Road/Victoria Road.
This seems unlikely, new developments are not usually connected that way and the mapper probably had a good reason not to connect them. I can see they do not join as a road and the red brick road is another hint. There is probably foot or cycle access though. Rather than blindly fix bugs, stop and think. Mail local mappers if recently active and if in doubt simply add a note so that a passing mapper can simply go and have a look.

Has the costa closed and become your office?

I have reverted this as I know the landuse is certainly still there.

Hi
Wecome to osm.
You seem to have deleted a number of buildings from the map, why have you done this?
You should always add a comment explaining what you have done and why, this is especially important when you are removing other mappers work.

You are right, I had missed that one

32779233 about 10 years ago

now means that potentially dangerous turns could be included in routing instructions. That is far worse than an error on a QA site.
Fixing the error may look good, 'look boss I have fixed xx bugs today', butit is not the way to make a high quality map.
I have added the turn restrictions.
Please try to look deeper at the problem, if you don't know the answer add a note, all notes are looked at by the UK community and things like this will be fixed quite quickly.

Hi
I have just spotted your change, whilst the crossing ways are a database error they need more than simply fixing them. All that is doing is fixing the symptom, without fixing the problem and also creating a much bigger one. A bit like removing the sticking plaster and leaving the patient to bleed to death.
A mapper needs to look a bit deeper as to why the road was mapped in that way, splitting ways and adding turn restrictions is not easy for a newbie, so they just cross the ways. It isn't the best way, but it models traffic flow. I did things like that myself in the early days, but then I had a huge blank canvas and nobody was watching too closely.
The issue you have created

The correct way to tag multilingual names is to use name:en and name:cy.
In Wales I would go with name=Craig Yr Aderyn, name:en=Birds Rock.

32798872 about 10 years ago

What is the source of this name, is it a real peak. Carreg Y Saeth looks to be to the South East, but I am not sure what it is referring to.
Simply copying peaks from old maps adds nothing to openstreetmap, there are lots of things that do need mapping that does not involve an armchair. How up to date are the shops in your local High Street?

32770395 about 10 years ago

Hi, should the node be inside.one of the buildings ?

32704018 about 10 years ago

Why did you remove oneway from Brook Street?
Do you have any evidence that it is twoway?
