I use Merkaartor and it just works. Out of the box.

leisure=common
leisure=park
landuse=meadow

Depends on how its allowed to be used and what there is.

If your GPS gives you good data (repetitive walk will get you good data too), then you will get two different track lines even when driving in both directions. So, yes, it makes difference. But the difference is small. Uneditable by Merkaartor as of yet, as it is not possible to zoom enough to make so small corrections. Website editor can zoom so much in.
