Thrilled about GPS

Zapsal vkarimbil 16. 6. 2009 v jazyce English.

This is my first diary entry (... and right, who cares). Just discoved this site, and edited the map around my area, and put in a whole lot of streets. GPS is a new passion for me, and I am going around with my brand new C230, and a bunch of software I never used before. I actually created my first track on the GPS today, but havent gotten around to uploading it yet! I am still wondering how tracks come in useful, hopefully some time down the line I will look at this again and laugh.

Tracks provide data points that tell mappers where streets and other features are. After your first JOSM editing session, that will be clear as daylight to you :-)

Thanks for the tip. I downloaded JOSM, and on looking for my track on my GPS, found out that the 'OK' icon doesnt do what the 'Enter' key does for save track file dialogs. Oh well, another day went by gathering home-office-home tracks. It was well spent once I loaded up JOSM and opened my track. I'm still finding my way around the interface - currently I am looking for a better way to scroll than finding a node near the corner and re-centering. I saw some missing roads near my office, so I'm all set for a post lunch walk, to record more tracks. I'm still wondering about uploading the tracks as being useful to others, but I'll be doing it soon.

I tend to zoom out using the mouse wheel, then back in where I want to look closer. A bit awkward when I first used JOSM but now I do it without thinking.

Hold right click on the area and drag.
