Smardale Gill Viaduct is currently closed to pedestrians due to unsafe railings. The footpath across the viaduct is blocked at each end by locked gates and warning signs.
The diversion route is the permitted path on the SE side of Scandal Beck between Smardale Bridge and the NE side of the viaduct.
It looks like this could be closed for a long time, so it may require re-tagging as NO ACCESS for the time being.

What is the evidence for this having been downgraded? It's still showing as B662 on OS and Google Maps. Cambridgeshire street list and map also describes it as B662: https://www.cambridgeshire.gov.uk/residents/travel-roads-and-parking/roads-and-pathways/highway-records/ and https://twitter.com/Cambs_Traffic/status/959021510378868736 (2018) - I can't find any other reference on the internet that it has been downgraded.

Is the name on osm.org/way/225312215 signed? (assuming it is a name and not some sort of ref such as a prow_ref). If not, would name:signed=no on it perhaps make sense here to avoid people being given instructions to navigate by it, which obviously wouldn't be a lot of use?
