I have noticed that as soon as highway=path is tagged together with bicycle=designated and foot=designated it turns the highway into a cycleway. Must be a programmer’s dubious preference!

Completing the “ref” statement in a relation is important when displaying a route (hiking/cycle/bus) on a GPS [as defined by “highway-symbol:” in the lines subfile]. There appears to be a 9 character limit to what can be displayed within a symbol. For this reason, I try to define a “ref” statement by not more than 3 characters, allowing for at least three different route refs to be displayed at the same time should a node have more than 1 relation.

Have been plotting many of our national walks in the South of Luxembourg (Sentier des Mineurs, Sentier du Sud) and the international ones (GR5 & GR570).

These walks become visible on http://hiking.lonvia.de/ .

From experience, most of the walks are passable, although near Hellange the official tracks have become lost due local construction.
