Mapping Party at Latinoware 2012

於 29 十一月 2012 由 willeEnglish發表。

The Latinoware is the second biggest free software event in Brazil and it is realized at the Itaipu Tecnological Park (PTI) in the city of Foz do Iguaçu. As well as in 2011, this year Djavan Fagundes and me have attended to Latinoware and we presented a talk about the OpenStreetMap. Furthermore, this year, we organized a short workshop and a Mapping Party.

Latinoware has a very special aspect: in all the editions there are many attendees from another countries of South America, notably from Paraguay. So I think we stimulated the increase of OSM contributors not only in Brazil but also in those countries.

The room where we presented the talk was crowded! I think there was about 70 people in the room… Our presentation was titled “OpenStreetMap – How to use and contribute”. The objective was to give a general vision about what OpenStreetMap is and how the people can start contributing to OSM.

In the Mapping Party we counted with about seven people. We mapped the PTI area using geolocalized photos and the OSMTracker android app. See the results of the mapping party:
