It’s a new year and we have some new features in OSMCha!!! Let’s take a look on them:
Save filter UI improved
Now it’s easier to save a filter! After set your filter parameters, click on the Save button on the top of the screen, give a name to it and press the Confirm Save button. The filter will be saved and applied, so the sidebar will update with the results. If you want to change something in your filter later, repeat those steps. Remember that the filters have a RSS feed. Get the link in your OSMCha user page.
Changeset comments
From now on, when we review a changeset in OSMCha, a comment will be posted in the OSM changeset page. That way, we give a feedback to the user and make that information accessible to other Quality Assurance tools. The comments have a predefined message and are posted with your username.
Tag changes summary
Each changeset now has a summary of tag changes. This makes it easy to identify the modifications made in the features without the need of clicking on them one by one.
We’d love to hear your comments and suggestions. You can do so by participating in our mailing list or open issues on our github repository.

Very good, Wille!
I used to save the url to not lose my filter options ;)

Awesome, thanks Wille!
Do tag changes affect any of validations? Like, adding many footways and parks may signal this is a Pokemon Go edit.

@Zverik No, the tag changes summary runs in the frontend when the page is rendered, but it’s a good idea to identify some patterns and convert it on alerts.

Thanks, Mateus!
About the changeset comments… This was supported by some members of the community: https://github.com/willemarcel/osmcha-django/issues/128
Soon, I’ll improve it to give more options to the users. Right now, if you don’t want that OSMCha post comments to the changesets that you are reviewing, when signing up to OSMCha, don’t give permissions to “modify the map”.

I agree that it could be improved, but I do think that it is a move in a good direction and will encourage especially new users by making them feel part of the community. Some improvements I can think of..
On the OSM server side you should be able to opt out of emails, perhaps this is already possible, but if not it should be.

Thanks for the update! I love using osmcha to catch up on edits in a particular area, although sometimes it doesn’t pull all of them in. Change set comments are a step in the right direction, localization of those would help

Hi, Everyone!
We released a new version of OSMCha with some changes to the changeset comment feature. You can know about this new release on my new diary post: osm.org/user/wille/diary/43287
