Currently I'm talking to some guys from the wikimedia foundation which try to widen the use of wikipedia in Bamako/Mali.

They might be able to send someone to Bamako in January. I suggested to do a walkingpapers ( http://www.walkingpapers.org ) mapping party there, so that a lot of POIs and streetnames etc. can be added without an actual need for a GPS. I think then the OSM community can add this information to the database.
Some other suggestions?
This is great news,
Christian

Found an old Army Map Service map from 1963 at U. Texas.

interesting to see the history of this town, place names, leper colonies.
Would the AMS map be public domain?
