Just a quick praise to the fellow mapper who started mapping the buildings in Niamey the capital of Niger. Awesome.
Soon Niamey will have better coverage than my hometown- LOL. That's from allmost zero to mapping buildings in just a week- OSM never stops to amaze me.

Hi, I'm Datalogg and I've been mapping Niamey fanatically ever since I read your "call to arms" last week, and I want to thank you for a week of great geek mapping fun! I've really started getting into Niamey, even reading lots of Wiki articles, looking on Flickr and YouTube, and downloading documents about the "great addressing campaign" of 2005 when the city council renamed all the streets. Most of my work has gone into rectifying a lot of the streets (armed with JOSM and giant perpendicular alignment rectangles ;-), but I've also staked out entire neighbourhoods. You're right OSM is really a fantastic community, and a fantastic cause.

Hi Datalogg, thanks for your fantastic contribution.
Before the whole Niger "buisness" I knew virtually nothing about the country. Like you I read a lot about it- very cool country.
Having looked at it from above for a couple of hours now, I really wanna go there and look at the places with my own eyes. Its allmost like planning a holiday, you read up on things, look at maps for hours, discuss the best routes etc.- the anticipation grows.
Its interesting how the internet allows you to create a map of an area you have never been to and you know allmost nothing about - LOL.
