According to the news on http://www.openseamap.org , they placed a coop- contract with GEBCO- an organization which has worldwide bathymetry data.

Does this mean that we will get depth data in Openseamap?

Not really. Seabed will look better though, but depths will have to be added manually. It's a mayor issue still to be solved.

I know that the depth data of gebco isn't as detailed as one wishes for a nautical chart, but having at least some contour lines, at least- that's what I gather from your reply, will be nice.
