Feel free to send me a message about stuff. Happy to learn if you are going to be respectful. Happy to ignore you if you can’t be. Which means you’ll get to complain about me regularly while I “mess up” repeatedly. I’m kinda stubborn that way.

About Me

I’m a guy, who is a father and loves to see how the world is connected. The whole thing lives like one big relational database right?? I am interested in contributing to projects where meaningful work can be done, even if tasks are less than glamorous.

A note on AI, and how I use it.

I use AI data responsibly (I’d like to think so anyway). I verify my shapes before submitting. I usually have to tweak about half. I’m not going to keep exact track but that’s probably a pretty good estimate.

I don’t go grabbing every building shape on planet earth and say “Good enough for the girl I go out with.”

My setup

I have a quick setup and use JOSM for editing. I have a macropad specifically for mapping tasks in JOSM.

When making larger edits, (i.e. neighborhoods currently under development etc.) I use JOSM. If I am making an edit in the field, Go Map!! is usually my goto, and for adding a here and there node / point, I use the iD editor.

I am trying to be flexible, and add data responsibly. Accuracy is very important to me too, however perfection is the enemy of good enough.

Personal Interests

Personally I am very interested in infrastructure, especially surveillance infrastructure (like ALPR’s, Red Light Cameras, Speed Cameras etc.) I am not a fan of these objects, and believe that peoples right to know when, where, how and why your data is being collected is a big deal. You ought to know.
