Hi there!

https://nominatim.openstreetmap.org/details.php?place_id=67004910

The address attached to the link above is misspelled. This misspelling is causing some issues with the project my team is working on. If needed, I can provide more information as to what issues are being caused, and provide a picture/pictures as well. Please let me know what I can do to help correct this issue. Thank you.

You can’t edit the Tag in OSM? What part of the address is wrong and what would be right?

Lavandar is actually spelled Lavender. That’s causing some issues when using OSM in conjunction with Google API and is returning no names for the coordinate values that are being returned when we call the OSM API.

-karlos-, I cannot edit. I’m new to this site, so I am not very familiar with what is required to edit a tag. How do I go about doing that?

smb5000 I see you fixed the spelling. Congratulations on making your first edit.

FWI - NE2 changed it from Lavendar to Lavandar almost 6 years ago. He quoted Orange County plat book/page X/144: Azalea Homes Unit Two as his source.

Hi, Welcome to OSM. I too see you have changed the name. The way is nicely visible with its tags using osm.org/way/11195965 and clicking on ‘view history’ on the bottom of that page gets you osm.org/way/11195965/history

You can see from the history that the name spelling has been changed several times using different sources. If you have seen the street signs on the ground then that source should override any remote import source. However you do need to state that source .. using the tag ‘source:name’ - change it to indicate what you used .. ‘personal survey’? Or what ever you used. Don’t leave it set to what ever the last person used.. as that will get the past spelling.

It may be possible that the street sign at one end has a different spelling than the sign at the other end! In which case I’d use the tag ‘alt_name’. Stranger things have happened.

Oh .. forgot .. you’d need ‘source:alt_name’ to state that too if you add the tag ‘alt_name’.

It may be “instructive’ to add a tag ‘comment’ about the spelling of the street name so any mapper looking at it can see your concerns over it.

That’s good to know, I will definitely be more informative and follow protocol better in the future. thank you for the information though, and I apologize if I was not 100% clear in my edit early, I will definitely be more clear in the future.
