Dear user HourOftheWulf,
I am writing to you in my capacity as a member of the OSMF Data Working Group. We have received several complaints about your mapping activity, especially about your lack of communication with the community. Among other things, you seem to
- engage in mechanical edits without following proper procedure (downloading stuff through Overpass and changing en-masse)
- cause errors but be unwilling to fix them even if they are pointed out to you
- use sources that are not admissible, and refuse to specify sources (it is not credible that you have actually surveyed all of the Netherlands, as your edits are all over the place - I asked you directly in osm.org/changeset/46076870 but like so many others didn’t get a response from you)
- be hostile or ignoarnt towards the community who have spent a lot of time trying to explain things to you, in the forum, in changeset comments and in direct messages. (Here is a list of the 59 changesets that were commented on by others http://resultmaps.neis-one.org/osm-discussion-comments?uid=4692777
OpenStreetMap is a project where may people work together. You cannot go it alone and ignore everyone else, even (and especially!) if the others have opinions that differ from your own.
Try and re-boot your relationship with the OSM community in the Netherlands. It seems that you had a good understanding initially, but then you forged ahead with a couple of edits the others found questionable, and ever since you’re indeed playing the “Lone Wulf”. This doesn’t work in OSM; edits you make against the community are worthless.
I am now reverting those of your edits that seem to be part of your mechanical edit or data import spree; I will try to leave your manual edits untouched, but I see that even these do occasionally draw criticism. Please don’t ignore such criticism; discuss the issues with the community and find a solution together.
Thank you
Frederik Ramm
