Dear user KlopanRin,

OpenStreetMap is a community effort. Because everyone can contribute, quality control is an important part of this effort - many users look at changes happening in their area and verify that they are ok.

We want to encourage this and make it easy for everyone to check the quality of a changeset, and the changeset comment is meant to aid this effort. If someone writes that they “fixed a subway station” but the changeset has deleted 20 buildings then we know that it must have been a mistake; if however the comment is “buildings demolished in JAn 2025 to make room for new development” then it makes sense.

Sometimes it can feel a bit unnecessary to write a changeset comment - you might think, anyone can see I added 10 buildings so why write “traced buildings near PLACENAME” when it is bleedingly obvious. But even in cases like this, it only costs you a few seconds to add a good changeset comment and it makes life so much easier for everyone.

You have a mixed history when it comes to changeset comments. Many are totally fine like “Resurveyed the road types.”, many are silly like “tywegergerghdrtghd” or “skibidi”. This has been pointed out by you by other community members, and to show them how petty and narrow-minded you find these requests, you are now using generative AI to produce garbled comments like “Implemented a comprehensive modification to vehicular circulation privileges, accompanied by the delineation of provisional operational parameters governing the ingress and egress of culinary establishments within the specified zone.” for the re-opening of a closed road and the closing of a McDonalds.

While this may be a funny joke if done once, please don’t make it a habit. The “good changeset comments” page has been pointed out to you; please try to abide by it in your mapping. An edit with a good changeset comment is worth twice as much as an edit without a changeset comment (or a “funny” one). It may sometimes feel tedious but it really is a good tradition and shows respect towards your fellow mappers - to allow them to review your work without having to guess.

Thank you
