Hello AlwynWellington,
I’m sending this as a message that you have to read before continuing to edit. There have been lots of discussions between you and other mappers which can be seen at http://resultmaps.neis-one.org/osm-discussion-comments?uid=567640 , but there doesn’t seem to be exactly a meeting of minds there.
It is something that I often say with a DWG hat on that if you find yourself arguing one point of view, and lots of other people telling you that you’re wrong, then no matter how obvious your position seems to you you really do need to try and understand where other people are coming from.
A couple of people (including me) have suggested that https://lists.openstreetmap.org/listinfo/talk-gb might be the better place for many of these discussions. I think that it would help everyone if you could explain what it is you’re trying to do, so that we can help you towards your goal.
Another thing that would help would be to take a bit of a step back and understand a bit more about how OSM tagging works, and how OSM tags are displayed (or not) in different editors and on different maps. For example, I suspect that when you removed tags from http://osm.mapki.com/history/way.php?id=544323127 it was accidental and perhaps you didn’t understand the significance of the change. Similarly, it’s worth find out about the threshold at which walking routes get added (see also osm.wiki/Verifiability ).
Once you’ve read this message you’ll be able to continue editing, but I’d definitely suggest that before any other “likely to be controversial” changes you try and discuss things with a wider forum of people (such as the talk-gb list) rather then just via changeset discussion comments. If you’ve any further questions you can also contact OSM’s Data Working Group at data@osmfoundation.org .
Best Regards,
Andy Townsend, on behalf of OSM’s Data Working Group.
