Hi there CarniLvr79,

This block is to serve as a reminder about a few OSM policies and an analysis of some of your edits.

  1. OSM is a community of mappers. Treat each other with respect. It is fine to debate and discuss things that are subjective matters, such as calling a path a path or a footway, but it is not appropriate to call your fellow mappers “douchebags”, as you did here. It may have been too hasty for Spaghetti Monster to revert this entirely, but that is easy to remedy, no need to be a jerk about it. You can always reach out to the DWG for help.

  2. natural=woods features need not be coincident with other landuse=* features. It is fine to draw trees on top of a park or on top of a pitch. In fact, this is not a matter of opinion, as you seem to think it is. It is well defined by the community on the OSM wiki that the pitch outline should follow the edges of the playing surface. Your “personal preference” is invalid and these sorts of edits are damaging to the map data. Do not do that anymore.

  3. The edges of the tree cover should not ‘cut off’ buildings, as you have done in changeset 117310456. This is not a matter of opinion, you have been warned. Do not continue to map this way.

In the future, you can feel free to map as many trees as you’d like, but make sure they overlap things that can be covered by trees, e.g., grass, parks, paths, driveways, houses, etc. The tree canopy is not an acid etch on things beneath. When discussing these things with the community, please be considerate in your responses. You can also use Slack or one of the OSM mailing lists as others have mentioned.
