Dear user brianegge,
As per the discussion posts on changesets:
https://www.openstreetmap.org/changeset/27113973 https://www.openstreetmap.org/changeset/27113853 https://www.openstreetmap.org/changeset/27113744 https://www.openstreetmap.org/changeset/27113648
You are making mass mechanical edits adding information about objects that you don’t know.
In addition, you have done so in smaller changesets.
As per the discussion posts, this is against the Mechanical Edit Policy, in that it was not discussed with the community or documented.
I am not going to discuss whether or not the edits are factually correct, but only tell you that the edits are not allowed until it’s been documented and discussed with the community, as per the policy. In addition, these edits should have better changeset comment tags that describe exactly what you’re doing.
Because of this, I’m placing a 0 hour block on your account. That means that you need to read this message in order to continue editing.
I’m also going to revert the changesets listed above.
Please discuss these changes with the local community, which in this case appears to the entire US, so I’d suggest the talk-us mailing list.
If you are adding data from another data source, then you will also need to follow the Import Guidelines on the wiki.
If you continue to make these types of edits without going through these processes, your account may be blocked again in the future, this time for longer periods, or possibly even permanently, which no one would want. That’s not this time, though- this is just a warning.
If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to contact the OSM Data Working Group at data@osmfoundation.org
Sincerely,
Serge Wroclawski on behalf of the OSM Data Working Group
