Hello RR81,

5 days ago I contacted you on behalf of the Data Working Group in a discussion on this changeset:

osm.org/changeset/27323769

The concern there was that “ref” tags had been copied to OpenStreetMap from a copyrighted source (I’m familiar with the area and they’re not visible on the ground there).

There was no reply to that message, nor to a subsequent mapper-to-mapper message, nor to others sent previously. I’m sending this message as a “0-hour block” just in case there’s some sort of “mail interface problem” - you’ll be able to continue editing as soon as you’ve read this message.

However, I would ask that you please do the following:

1) Do explain where the “ref”s used in osm.org/changeset/27323769 came from. It’s important that they came from a licence-compatible source. If they didn’t, they’ll have to be removed.

2) Explain the source of the changes in osm.org/changeset/27387562 and osm.org/changeset/27167802 that I asked about in osm.org/message/read/473574 . As I said in that message, OSM is a collaborative project, and we have to work together to create “the best map”. If people are saying continually that what you’ve mapped isn’t right (see https://help.openstreetmap.org/questions/36598/detours-removed for another example from a completely different part of the world, it probably isn’t).

3) Using meaningful changeset comments explaining your edits (and the source of them). Also, when mappers contact you, via changeset discussion comments, messages, or other means, you owe them the courtesy of a reply.

If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to contact the Data Working Group at data@osmfoundation.org.

Best Regards,

Andy Townsend, on behalf of the OSM Data Working Group
