Hi there Jacob,
It appears that you’ve conducted an import of York County’s building footprints but did not seek community review using the import process prior to proceeding. Did you know that there is a special process for importing?
Any GIS data that you’d like to have imported must be vetted, converted, and discussed before you can proceed with any automated edits such as those in this changeset. The import in question is problematic for a number of reasons that may require a full revert of your work. Namely, the address tagging is not to OSM standards, rather it is the spec. that is typically used in GIS due to NG911 specifications.
Have a look at this house for instance. You set the
addr:street=VICKILEE
. In OSM, the street names need to be Proper Case and must include the full, unabbreviated street type in the name (often a separate attribute in GIS). The acceptable tag here isaddr:street=Vickilee Drive
. Additionally, you set theadmin_level=East Prospect Boro
. Admin_level is a tag for boundaries, not buildings. I think you meant to add theaddr:city
here, though I’m not sure the boro is the city for these buildings. That is something you need to determine. Finally, if your GIS includes ZIP Codes, I would suggest adding them to theaddr:postcode
tag.The reason for the import process is that the community can help you with items like this, to ensure the data meets or exceeds OSM’s standards. Please email us at data@openstreetmap.org to discuss how we can rectify this problem. In the meantime I suggest you read through the import guidelines and start planning your approach.
Thank you,
Elliott Plack
