Hello,
I’m sending this as a “message that has to be read” before editing can continue to draw your attention to the discussion on osm.org/changeset/32767835 and some of your other changesets. Some people have had problems receiving emails from osm.org, and have missed being notified about changeset discussion comments; I’m sending this just in case you have that problem too.
You’ll be able to continue editing normally as soon as you have read this message, though of course I would certainly suggest that you try and address the points raised in changeset discussions and answer the questions asked. We all edit the same map and it’s important that we all work together and that the valuable contributions of mappers who go out and survey stuff isn’t diluted by “mechanical-turk-edits” that simply change valid tags that they do not understand (though no-one, I suspect, is going to argue that changing “color” to “colour” requires a huge amount of discussion beforehand and causes data to be lost.
Note that the mechanical edit policy
osm.wiki/Automated_Edits_code_of_conduct
contains the following:
“This includes … use of find-and-replace functionality using a standard editor such as JOSM or using an XAPI service where the changes are not reviewed individually;”. I’d take “reviewed individually” to mean more here than just “looking at the tags already on the object without looking at the context”.
Best Regards,
Andy Townsend aka SomeoneElse, on behalf of OpenStreetMap’s Data Working Group
