Hello mustafa_geo,
I’m sending you this message because there seems to be a bit of a misunderstanding about OSM nodes and ways.
You previously added a duplicate Interlink Express in Alfreton at osm.org/node/3773308357/history , which I deleted (see discussion on osm.org/changeset/34448963 ) and you added it back as osm.org/node/3799210861/history .
There should only be one thing in OSM for each thing in the real world - see osm.wiki/One_feature,_one_OSM_element . A duplication of things as both nodes and ways will mean that anyone counting things in OSM will end up with twice as many as there are in real life. When you’re extracting data from OSM you’ll need to consider ways as well as nodes (and also possibly relations - see osm.wiki/Elements ). If you’re using a command-line based extraction, Osmconvert ( osm.wiki/Osmconvert ) already supports an “–all-to-nodes” parameter to allow you to only worry about nodes downstream; if you’re processing the data directly then just handle tags on ways in the same way as nodes.
I’m sending this as a message that must be read before continuing editing because it’s possible (if there’s a mail misconfiguration) that you might not have seen the email from the comments on osm.org/changeset/34448963 and those from other mappers. You can see other changesets with discussion comments on them by going to osm.org/user/mustafa_geo/history and looking for non-zero numbers. You’ll be able to edit as normal immediately after reading this message.
A couple of other useful links:
https://help.openstreetmap.org/ has lots of “data extraction” questions on it - whatever you’re trying to do, someone might have asked about it before.
https://lists.openstreetmap.org/listinfo/talk-gb is the “talk-gb” mailing list, one of the main places where GB discussion takes place. Northern Ireland is covered by https://lists.openstreetmap.org/listinfo/talk-ie . People will be able to answer any questions you might have there.
osm.wiki/IRC is widely used: irc://irc.oftc.net/osm-gb usually has people in it during the daytime.
More general contact information is at osm.wiki/Contact_channels .
Any questions, please don’t hesitate to ask - either using one of those options or via data@osmfoundation.org .
Best Regards,
Andy Townsend (SomeoneElse) on behalf of OpenStreetMap’s Data Working Group.
