dear cam98,
I write on behalf of the Data Working Group of the OpenStreetMap Foundation.
I am applying this “zero-hour block” to your account and to another, presumably linked account (cameronk1998). This just means you will have to log in and read this message before continuing to edit OpenStreetMap; it’s a means of getting your attention.
Another mapper has been in touch with DWG to point out that some of your edits are adding duplicate or dubious data to OpenStreetMap. I’ve left a comment on a couple of the more obvious changesets where this is happening. The map is a collaborative, wiki-style effort to produce an accurate map of the world; this means improving data rather than tracing over it, and keeping additions to features which can be observed “on the ground”.
I see you haven’t been editing for long and may still be getting the hang of OSM; thank you for your recent attempts to contribute, but we may have to revert (e.g. roll back) all your recent changes due to the effort involved in filtering useful additions from dubious data. It would help other mappers if you leave a descriptive comment when you contribute changes (they are currently showing up as the default “no comment”).
best regards,
Jo Walsh aka zool on behalf of the Data Working Group
