Hello 00crashtest, welcome to OpenStreetMap!
I’m sending this message as one that has to be read in case you haven’t been seeing the message that people have been leaving on your changesets. Most or all of your recent edits in London have had to be reverted; there have previously been similar problems elsewhere (eg. Hong Kong - osm.org/changeset/36953751 ).
It can be difficult to get the hang of things with OpenStreetMap; and as you’ve only been editing for a few weeks it’s understandable that you’re still learning. However, there are a couple of things that you can do to help yourself:
1) One is to trying “starting small”. Try mapping shops local to you, or things in a local park. That’ll help you to get the hang of things, and understand that sometimes it can be difficult transferring what’s in the real world to OpenStreetMap.
2) If you think that something in a particular area is wrong, (for example osm.org/changeset/37778257 ) try contacting the local community and explaining the problem. If you don’t know where to start when contacting anyone, try the #osm channel on IRC - see osm.wiki/IRC for details.
3) Please do always use changeset comments explaining the details of any changes and your source. Some of your changeset do have changeset comments, but some, such as osm.org/changeset/37801676 , do not.
4) When people contact you via changeset discussions such as on osm.org/changeset/36953751 please do have the courtesy to reply. OpenStreetMap is a collaborative project; we all have to work together to create the best map. If you have not seen these messages before please check that your email within OSM is configured correctly.
You’ll be able to continue mapping as soon as you’ve read this message but please do try and be a bit more careful in the future.
Best Regards,
Andy Townsend (SomeoneElse) on behalf of OpenStreetMap’s Data Working Group.
