With notebook and Hicom-GPS-mouse I did a test track driving home from work. The last waypoint seems to be wrong, no idea why. A large line is drawn from my last position in northern direction.

Finished Hamilton today.
Tomorrow I will try for the last few bits of the city centre.
If you're on an A or B road where the local council has chosen not to signpost the number (ref), find a railway bridge, and look for the little Network Rail plate saying "If you hit this bridge...". These have the number handily written on them. This is helpful.
Except in Burton, where the local scrubbers have, er, scrubbed out the number.
Even the bridge over the Trent & Mersey near Stenson has one of these: "If you see any waterborne vehicle hitting this bridge..." How much damage do they think a narrowboat travelling at 3mph is going to do?!
Woohooo... no one had done the desert road in New Zealand yet so I got to map from Levin through to Taupo. Super easy with the satellite map. This is addictive!
all visible streets in Stadtteil Hornau
Tracked and added a couple of sections of road around the outside of the town.
Added some more detail to some of the roundabouts I have already added.
Hamilton today. Got the cyclepaths that criss-cross it down (far more extensive network that I'd expected), and then mapped residential streets in the northern part.
Managed 10 miles in around 2.5 hours (not counting travel to/from), getting better.
Well, it's now possible to get to Killarney and
Killorglin, County Kerry by road from Cork.
(And back to Cork again for anyone who gets homesick).
Also possible to visit the historic towns of Kinsale and
Bandon from Cork city !!!!
Ingleby Barwick and Preston Farm Business Park, Stockton-on-Tees, UK
Took a couple of different roads around town on the way to work and back to track some of the main roads that go around Ingleby. Its very satisfying to see the basic shape of the town building up.
I linked Ingleby up with the A66 the other day and today added in the main way through Preston Farm Business Park to link up with other existing roads at the other end.
This morning I finished Netherhall, and did a bit of Hamilton next to it. Then, this afternoon, the eastern part of Thurnby Lodge, east of Bowhill Grove/Willowbrook Park. Getting a bit better at hills now.
Tomorrow's plan is to do more of Hamilton. Hamilton is a new suburb north-east of Leicester, at which house-building has been going on for over ten years, and still being actively built. It still has pretty poor coverage in the TeleAtlas dataset which most online mapping is using. Shouldn't take long to better it.
A lot of mapping on this weekend... Also, I managed to create the first version of the renderer for Java... This prototype will be used to provide the interface for the cell phones... Really great weekend...

Added some cycle paths and a couple of roads that I tracked while out on my Sunday afternoon walk.
This week, I scanned wikipedia for Pretoria and Johannesburg related articles and added links to OSM where appropriate (i.e. when our map is better than the google map link provided).
The larger goal is to drive traffic to OSM (i.e. improve the Page Rank). Not only will we get more users this way, but they will be more eager to contribute, because their work will be more appreciated. There are still many avenues left to pursue :
* Get wikitravel to provide an OSM option to their mapstraction embedding.
* Export our data to html so that the search engines will index it. Brabys already does this, e.g. http://www.brabysmaps.co.za/brabys/map_search.asp?Area=&search=glen
Again mapped a part of the city while going Christmas shopping. Riding on a bus one can map quite a lot, taking notes in an atlas of 1:10000. Boldly drew lines across white plains! Almost saw lions running away. Passed the longest house in Prague along the way.
Last friday I talked to a friend about OpenStreetMap and showed him what is going on. His hometown is pretty much non-existant at the moment and he instantly favoured the idea to join and map out his home.
took the bike out for a bit of a spin today, did some of netherhall. quite light traffic so good for reacquainting myself with riding. some non-nice gradients, though.
