42876740 | almost 9 years ago | I did say roughly. I did not use google translate. Mein Deutsch ist nicht so gut. Side job still qualifies as a job. It means you probably know woodpeck personally in real life (judging that geofabrik is not that big of a company) |
42876740 | almost 9 years ago | @mikelmaron while I do agree with you, it's easy to police people into obeying Guildelines(which by definition should be a suggested coarse of action instead of a hardset rule book that if you don't obey you get reverted) to a T when you work with someone from the DWG:
Derzeit studiere ich Geodäsie und Geoinformatik (Master) am Karlsruher Institut für Technologie und habe einen Nebenjob in der Geofabrik. Which translates roughly to I have a job at geofabrik. Coincidently the person that is reverting all of our work (woodpeck) is a co-founder of Geofabrik. Ever since the mass revert in Canada's north: https://lists.openstreetmap.org/pipermail/talk-ca/2016-September/007225.html
He's even gone into my history as far as one year back and threatened to revert the data:

33248922 | almost 9 years ago | I have also added Gatineau to the import catalog here:
Thank you for your understanding. Good day. |
33248922 | almost 9 years ago | Michael please see:
|
33248922 | almost 9 years ago | Micheal please see Données ouvertes de la Ville de Montréal which has the same license as Gatineau and is approved with the same exception(give explicit permission).
|
33248922 | almost 9 years ago | This is why I told you not to use google translate. The permission is given if we give them attribution on the osm.wiki/Contributors page |
33248922 | almost 9 years ago | As I've said: I had asked them if adding them to osm.wiki/Contributors
Their response was that it was sufficient attribution. End of story |
33248922 | almost 9 years ago | I also ran the text in google translate and it gives nothing remotely intelligible: We attribute to use and import our addresses in the OpenStreetMap project only if you give us the award as a data source. Regards, Gatineau's Communications Department -------------

33248922 | almost 9 years ago | I cannot post the request sent to them as it was through a contact form and is in french, which you wouldnt understand anyways. I had asked them if adding them to osm.wiki/Contributors
|
33248922 | almost 9 years ago | Also I was not aware of the import catalog at the time. I will add it later today. |
33248922 | almost 9 years ago | Are you daft? I just told you this dates back from 2013. Also using google translate for a legal acceptance, should not be a practice to maintain |
33248922 | almost 9 years ago | F.y.i: osm.wiki/Gatineau/Import |
33248922 | almost 9 years ago | Oh it is a legal addition of data, i'm just not going to put forward the effort to dig up documentation for you |
33248922 | almost 9 years ago | Hello Michael, you can find this information by yourself I have officially quit contributing to OSM this agreement dates back to 2013. Have a nice day. |
42879505 | almost 9 years ago | Thanks, I reported it. |
42633517 | almost 9 years ago | Ottawa's building traces are more accurate and are more accurately aligned instead of aligning to Bing. Statistics Canada is supposed to be the ones responsible for the documentation |
42633517 | almost 9 years ago | You can thank Ottawa for that. We are currently working on a project with Statistics Canada (osm.wiki/WikiProject_Canada#Crowdsourcing_buildings_with_Statistics_Canada)
|
42876740 | almost 9 years ago | This is part of a project involving statistics canada. Documentation can be found here: osm.wiki/WikiProject_Canada#Crowdsourcing_buildings_with_Statistics_Canada |
42876740 | almost 9 years ago | Original data was probably from NRCan v6.0(which is acient and innacurate in building footprints). Data footprints being added are traced on 30cm imagery and correctly positionned. Copying attributes to new geometry and deleting the old is quicker and more effecient than trying to align old geometry to new ones. |
